This is the last lesson on the Reverb "Empowered" section. Hopefully, we have all learned more about the amazing Holy Spirit. This week we focused on the Holy Spirit as He guides us into all truth to glorify God. When faced with questions or uncertainties, the Holy Spirit will guide you to the Truth.
I pray that we can apply our understanding of the Holy Spirit by confessing questions, doubts and concerns to the Holy Spirit & by seeking His guidance.
Scripture:
John 16:12-15
Supporting passages to read on your own: John 14:26, 1 Timothy 4:1, John 17:10
Jesus shared many things to prepare the disciples and us, but did NOT share others because He knew it was too much for them to understand at the time.
A couple of things about God's glory and the truth that is revealed through knowing Him:
God's glory is the revelation of Himself. When we see God's Glory, we see God identify who He is. we can't share it== We can only reflect of magnify it and allow Him to be revealed through us.
God makes Himself known to us by means of His glory. He reveals Himself to us.
Everything that He reveals is Truth. nothing about God is a lie.
Jesus wanted the disciples to know that after He was gone, the Holy Spirit (His Spirit) would come and reveal the truth concerning God. This IS HIS GLORY!!!
John 16:14 basically says that the Holy Spirit will reveal who I am (Jesus talking) by making the truth about me known to you.
What's really cool about this passage is that God has allowed us to know Hiim because He is a relational God. He CHOSE this-- He didn't need us. We are extremely blessed to be allowed to have this relationship-- this Holy Spirit abiding in us! That is something we should take care NOT to take advantage of!
All in all... lots of good stuff and great discussion today! Hope you've learned something applicable about the Holy Spirit!
If you have questions, as always, let us know!

Another request-- or personal soap box for my life so it seems :)
As I shared today, I am seeking guidance on God's will for my life in terms of my chosen profession. I feel the need to share that I have an unhealthy work habit. I find myself struggling to find balance because I give so much of myself to my work. I love what I do, but I am not sure the work-a-holic in me is glorifying to God, which is my #1 goal and priority! Even though, I sometimes try to justify that because what I'm doing is good-- helping people with diabetes and trying to find a cure for this disease-- and also that Colossians 3:2-24 says, "Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord, not for men, since you know that you will receive an inheritance from the Lord as a reward. It is the Lord Christ you are serving."-- I am being convicted that something's not exactly right with how I am being consumed by my job. I am choosing to allow my happiness to be determined by how much I feel that I accomplish in a day's work. Please pray for me as I try to find balance between career, service and being a good wife.
