Challenge: Check out the outline in your Reverb books on page 221. Write down your testimony. Over the next couple of weeks, we will be doing a scripture memory challenge. Memorize these 4 verses, and we'll have a cool prize (TBD). They're good ones to incorporate in your testimony!!

Getting Back on Track

Now that we're a couple getting back in the swing of things, I thought I would make sure everyone is up to speed on where we are in ReVerb! We'll try and do some catching up from the last couple of weeks... but please read "The Crux: Romans and the Gospel" up to page 225.Technically, this week is Session 4: Getting the Word Out.

I look forward to seeing you on Sunday!!

Also, we are tentatively planning a painting party for April 17th, however, I have a big event that day, and I'm not sure how available I will be at the times we'd originally discussed with Ms. Martha. This "painting party" is basically a class that Ms. Cammie would teach us. We'll be painting a splatter cross, and we'll do this with the other 9th grade girls class. I think it sounds like a lot of fun, but it's not really up to me-- it's up to you!! What other fun things would you like to consider for the month of April?

Hope you have a happy Friday! See you in a few days!!

wrap up from February 28th

This is the last lesson on the Reverb "Empowered" section. Hopefully, we have all learned more about the amazing Holy Spirit. This week we focused on the Holy Spirit as He guides us into all truth to glorify God. When faced with questions or uncertainties, the Holy Spirit will guide you to the Truth.

I pray that we can apply our understanding of the Holy Spirit by confessing questions, doubts and concerns to the Holy Spirit & by seeking His guidance.

Scripture:
John 16:12-15

Supporting passages to read on your own: John 14:26, 1 Timothy 4:1, John 17:10

Jesus shared many things to prepare the disciples and us, but did NOT share others because He knew it was too much for them to understand at the time.

A couple of things about God's glory and the truth that is revealed through knowing Him:

God's glory is the revelation of Himself. When we see God's Glory, we see God identify who He is. we can't share it== We can only reflect of magnify it and allow Him to be revealed through us.

God makes Himself known to us by means of His glory. He reveals Himself to us.

Everything that He reveals is Truth. nothing about God is a lie.

Jesus wanted the disciples to know that after He was gone, the Holy Spirit (His Spirit) would come and reveal the truth concerning God. This IS HIS GLORY!!!

John 16:14 basically says that the Holy Spirit will reveal who I am (Jesus talking) by making the truth about me known to you.

What's really cool about this passage is that God has allowed us to know Hiim because He is a relational God. He CHOSE this-- He didn't need us. We are extremely blessed to be allowed to have this relationship-- this Holy Spirit abiding in us! That is something we should take care NOT to take advantage of!

All in all... lots of good stuff and great discussion today! Hope you've learned something applicable about the Holy Spirit!
If you have questions, as always, let us know!

Prayer Requests:
Abby's knee, Angie's dad and family as his health is failing, her brother & babysitting situation for the summer
Emily's decisions for the summer
grad exams
fundraising grant for family to travel to Africa
spring break trip
Sammi's sister moving to Virginia
earthquake victims in Chile
Northern Ireland trip
Jason leaves in 3 weeks

Another request-- or personal soap box for my life so it seems :)
As I shared today, I am seeking guidance on God's will for my life in terms of my chosen profession. I feel the need to share that I have an unhealthy work habit. I find myself struggling to find balance because I give so much of myself to my work. I love what I do, but I am not sure the work-a-holic in me is glorifying to God, which is my #1 goal and priority! Even though, I sometimes try to justify that because what I'm doing is good-- helping people with diabetes and trying to find a cure for this disease-- and also that Colossians 3:2-24 says, "Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord, not for men, since you know that you will receive an inheritance from the Lord as a reward. It is the Lord Christ you are serving."-- I am being convicted that something's not exactly right with how I am being consumed by my job. I am choosing to allow my happiness to be determined by how much I feel that I accomplish in a day's work. Please pray for me as I try to find balance between career, service and being a good wife.

Relationships- 2/21/10

So for this weeks lesson we were supposed to talk about conviction by the Holy Spirit, but as we were talking about our weeks the subject of relationships came up and I felt God pulling me pursue that further. We talked about all types of relationships: friends, boyfriends, parents, and marital relationships. Overall it went REALLY well. I am so proud of you girls for having such a hunger for what the Bible has to say about each subject. I know I didnt have all the answers and y'all were great at bouncing ideas around and listening to each other. For those of you who missed it here are the three main topics we talked about and focused on:

1) Knowing what the Bible has to say about divorce. (very controversial subject in todays society)

2) The importance of evaluating romantic relationships by asking questions such as "Does this relationship glorify God?" and for older relationships "Can I see myself married to this person?"

3) Accountability=honesty not judgement (short and sweet)

*Challenge: Find a solid accountability partner or spiritual mentor.

I hope y'all enjoyed this week because I did :) Annah Grace so sorry you missed it. I'm sure we will have similar discussions in the future. Have an awesome week girls!!!

Valentine's Day lesson wrap up

Hey girls!

Sorry this one's going to be short-- trying to see what format you like best! Just wanted to remind you that the primary role of the Holy Spirit is to testify about Jesus and equip US to do the same!

Don't be afraid to stand up for something you believe in this week! (and always) Remember, the Holy Spirit is with you to teach you and remind you of what Jesus taught and what he would do in those situations. Pray for guidance and wisdom, mercy and grace when you are standing up for something.

Prayer requests:
-Abby's knee
-Jaykop
-volunteering at KidsFirst
-Rachel school stuff

February 7th Life Group follow up

Hey ladies,

Here's a review from Sunday as well as what we can be praying for each other about this week. Remember James 5:16 says "Therefore confess your sins to each other and pray for each other so that you may be healed. The prayer of a righteous man is powerful and effective." You are EMPOWERED by the Holy Spirit :)

Memory verse:
John 14:26 "But the Counselor, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name, will teach you all things and will remind you of everything I have said to you."

Biblical passage: John 14:23-27
Supporting passages that you can read and study this week: John 14:1-16, 1 John 1:1-10

According to this passage, the Holy Spirit does two things for us after moving into our lives: teaches us all that we need to know and reminds us of Jesus's words. The spirit continues to teach us about Jesus & helps us recall all that he said and did. It is tough to obey Jesus's commands all the time on our own, so don't try to!! God sent the Holy Spirit to remind us that with the spirit's help, we can overcome the difficulties of following Jesus and can let go of the stress and fear associated and trust in Him and rely on His peace.

After our lesson this week, I hope that you can understand that the Spirit helps us to live according to Christ's teachings by reminding us of all He said and instructing us in all we need to know. I hope you were able to identify areas of your life in which you need instruction-- Listen to the Spirit's teachings and rest in the peace of knowing He lives in you (if you've received Jesus!) and empowers you to live more like Jesus everyday.

How's it going so far this week? Are you remembering to ask for help? Are you praying over the scriptures we discussed in those areas we identified that we know we need the Holy Spirit's instruction? Use whatever means necessary to remember that the Holy Spirit will be there to guide you to God's word. Remind you and instructing you concerning everything you need to know and apply to your life! It's tough out there... no need to try and do things on your own!

Prayer Requests:
-Bree
-Sammy's first soccer game of the season!
-Emily- relationship strains
-Courtney- relationship with brother
-Elizabeth- sibiling relationships
-Abby- knee pain
-Jason's mom is traveling to California for travel nurse job
